To develop the right velvet jacquard for our signature Peggy we didn’t have to look far, as we have in Venice one of the oldest woolen mills in Europe.
The history of this weaving mill began in 1499 when when the founder name could be read in the client's scroll in one of the Mansueti's paintings. Unique textiles are made by skilled craftsmen on 18th century looms which still break the silence of Venetian calli, with the same techniques and the same level of quality imposed by the doge. Only after a long and careful training the weaver can start working at the loom, mechanic or manual. The personal characteristics of a weaver must be passion and patience. Without them, it is impossible to succeed in this ancient, fascinating and complex profession.
To the uniqueness of each jacquard fabric we just added our modern design. We developed a numbered edition of 7 unique pieces, combining the geometric velvet jacquard with cognac color and white vegetable leather trim. This is our way to take into modern times one of the most ancient Venetian tradition. This is as well our tribute to Peggy Guggenheim as Venice would not be the same without her riding down the Grand Canal in a Gondola with her little dogs.FIND HERE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE PEGGY IN VELVET AND LEATHER
